When I submitted my PR application in 2024, I thought the hard part was over. I had the documents, the proof of funds, the language test results — everything IRCC asked for. What I didn’t expect was the waiting.
Eighteen months later, here’s what the timeline actually looked like and what I’d tell anyone going through it.
The Timeline
- Month 1: Submitted application + AOR
- Month 3: Biometrics request
- Month 6: Medical request
- Month 10: Eligibility review started
- Month 14: Background check in progress
- Month 18: COPR — finally
The biggest lesson? Patience isn’t just a virtue — it’s a strategy. Don’t check the portal every day. Don’t compare timelines with strangers on Reddit. Your application is on its own journey.
Stay organized, keep your documents accessible, and find something else to focus on while you wait.
